چکیده
Abstract Recently, the need for assembly systems of better following market demand has led to spread alternative solutions with respect traditional fixed worker strategy. Walking systems, where operators move across line produce finished product, are gaining always more interest. In this paper, a comparison between (FW) and walking (WW) strategies is provided, by taking into account their differences both in terms performed activities during material exposure at workstations. The evaluation carried out through proposal mathematical model, understand impact on time operators’ energy expenditure. behavior model investigated parametric analysis real case study. results show that FW best one when system working its maximum throughput, while WW strategy turns be preferable lower values demand, from an expenditure perspective.

An Analytical Approach for Single and Mixed-Model Assembly Line Rebalancing and Worker Assignment Problem
In this paper, an analytical approach is used for assembly line rebalancing and worker assignment for single and mixed-model assembly lines based on a heuristic-simulation algorithm. This approach helps to managers to select a better marketing strategy when different combinations of demands are suitable.Furthermore, they can use it as a guideline to know which worker assignment is better for ea...
متن کاملAn Integrated Design Support Methodology for Walking Worker Assembly Lines
A traditional assembly system-fixed worker line (FW) designed by assigning one operator to each workstation performing an assembly task at that workstation on the line, has some deficiencies, such as low flexibility, constant demand and difficult balancing. A walking-worker line (WW), with an assembly worker travelling with the work along the line, has several advantages over a traditional line...
متن کاملAn algorithm for integrated worker assignment, mixed-model two-sided assembly line balancing and bottleneck analysis
This paper addresses a multi-objective mixed-model two-sided assembly line balancing and worker assignment with bottleneck analysis when the task times are dependent on the worker’s skill. This problem is known as NP-hard class, thus, a hybrid cyclic-hierarchical algorithm is presented for solving it. The algorithm is based on Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) and Theory of Constraints (TOC) an...
متن کاملSimultaneous Multi-Skilled Worker Assignment and Mixed-Model Two-Sided Assembly Line Balancing
This paper addresses a multi-objective mathematical model for the mixed-model two-sided assembly line balancing and worker assignment with different skills. In this problem, the operation time of each task is dependent on the skill of the worker. The following objective functions are considered in the mathematical model: (1) minimizing the number of mated-stations (2), minimizing the number of ...
متن کاملAssembly Line Worker Integration and Balancing Problem
We propose the Assembly Line Worker Integration and Balancing Problem (ALWIBP), a new assembly line balancing problem arising in lines with conventional and disabled workers. The goal of this problem is to maintain high productivity levels by minimizing the number of workstations needed to reach a given output, while including in the assembly line a number of disabled workers. This problem gain...
